Excerpt from the program (Red-Club):

“On November 8, 2024, the opening of our exhibition will take place, which exclusively presents works by female artists.

The artists will be present and look forward to engaging in dialog and presenting their works in person. Guided tours of the exhibition are available on request.

The “Female Art Week” is a mixture of vernissage/opening and art fair, combined with a happening at which the artists are present. This creates a personal exchange and a relationship between visitors, collectors and the artists. Gallery owners are also very welcome.

The “Femaleartweek” begins with a week-long pop-up exhibition dedicated exclusively to the presentation of artworks by female creators. In an art landscape still characterized by gender inequalities, the exhibition aimed to create a space where women’s work was made visible and celebrated.

Despite undeniable progress in the recognition of female artists, current statistics highlight a persistent underrepresentation and valuation discrepancy in the art market. Women remain significantly underrepresented in the world’s most important museums and in the high-priced art market. The sales prices of their works are significantly below those of their male counterparts, which points to structural inequalities that urgently need to be overcome.

The “Femaleartweek” was born out of the need to draw attention to these grievances and to make the value of works by female artists visible. By carefully selecting works that reflect both the aesthetic diversity and depth of female perspectives, the exhibition invites people to view art from an equal and appreciative perspective.

In addition to the physical exhibition, “Femaleartweek” also opened up the discourse on the role of women in the art world.

The week concludes with the finissage – an event that not only marks the end of the exhibition, but also serves as a catalyst for future projects that promote equality and justice in the art sector.” (Michaela Mumm-von-Oldenburg)
