Susanne Herbold – Exhibition in Berlin during Female Art Week

Quantum Gallery, Berlin – November 2024

As part of Female Art Week Berlin, artist Susanne Herbold presented large-scale abstract paintings at Quantum Galerie in Berlin-Charlottenburg. The exhibition brought together international positions in contemporary art and placed a particular focus on current perspectives of female contemporary practice.

Context of the exhibition and Female Art Week Berlin

Excerpt from the program (Red Club):

Despite undeniable progress in the recognition of female artists, current statistics highlight a continuing underrepresentation and valuation discrepancy in the art market. Women remain significantly underrepresented in the world’s most important museums and in the high-priced art market. The sales prices of their works are significantly lower than those of their male colleagues, pointing to structural inequalities that urgently need to be overcome.

Femaleartweek arose from the need to draw attention to these injustices and to highlight the value of works by female artists. Through a careful selection of works that reflect both the aesthetic diversity and depth of female perspectives, the exhibition invites viewers to view art from an equal and appreciative perspective.

In addition to the physical exhibition, Femaleartweek also opened up discourse on the role of women in the art world.

The week concludes with the finissage—an event that not only marks the end of the exhibition but also serves as a catalyst for future projects promoting equality and justice in the art sector.” (Michaela Mumm-von-Oldenburg)

Participating in Female Art Week in Berlin is part of my international exhibition activities. My works have been shown in various cities in Europe and the USA and deal with emotional perception, memory, and energy in abstract painting.
