The exhibition “Independence” was created during Art Cologne 2022 as a temporary pop-up gallery in downtown Cologne. It featured current works and large-format canvases from several series. The aim was to move art outside of traditional gallery spaces into the urban environment and enable direct dialogue with the public.
The exhibition opened with a vernissage, which also served as the first presentation of the pop-up gallery’s new premises.
The temporary use of the shop premises proved to be a special form of presentation: the large shop window provided an open view into the exhibition space, which immediately appealed to passers-by and promoted interaction between art and urban space.
