Susanne Herbold (b. 1970) lives and works in Cologne and Mallorca. Her passion for painting emerged in early childhood but initially took a backseat to her professional path. After earning a Bachelor of Tourism (CCI) with distinction, she built a successful career in the tourism and automotive industries. Throughout this time, art remained a constant companion. Today, it has become her true vocation and the focus of her professional life.

Herbold’s artistic practice is rooted in abstraction and defined by purism and reduction – a deliberate response to the overstimulation of contemporary life. Her large-scale works evolve through a dynamic, intuitive process characterized by expressive brushwork, vivid color palettes, and multilayered compositions. Herbold’s visual language speaks of inner movement, light, awareness, and transformation – themes that echo her personal journey. Her paintings explore the tension between harmony and chaos and invite viewers to shift their perspective and reconnect with their own autonomy.

Herbold’s work has been exhibited internationally – including in New York, Miami, Barcelona, and Berlin – and is held in private collections worldwide. In 2024, she received the Global Art Virtuoso Award from the platform Contemporary Art Collectors. That same year, her work was featured in the renowned publication International Contemporary Masters XV (World Wide Art Books).

Beyond her studio work, Herbold engages in cultural discourse through writing and artistic collaboration. She contributed to the fourth volume of the book series Frauen schaffen Zukunft (FAZ Verlag, 2024), which explored the topic of values. In March 2025, she was one of 40 artists selected for the art and book project Great Artists of Mallorca by Wiesbaden-based photographer Axel Ruske.
