POP-UP EXHIBITION „CITY-LIGHTS“ – ART IN COLOGNE

The pop-up exhibition “City Lights – Art in Cologne”

presented recent works by Susanne Herbold alongside other participating artists in a temporary exhibition space in Cologne’s historic Old Town.

Located close to the Rhine, the venue became an open meeting place for contemporary art over several days. Visitors gained insight into different artistic positions — ranging from abstract painting to figurative approaches — and were able to experience the works through direct exchange with the artists.

The exhibition was conceived as an accessible art space beyond traditional gallery structures. Through the temporary use of the location, art became visible within everyday urban life and accessible to a wider audience.

Susanne Herbold presented large-scale abstract paintings in which movement, colour space and emotional perception form central elements of her artistic practice. The works address memory, energy and atmospheric states, unfolding their impact particularly through direct spatial experience.

Further works by the artist were presented in the same year during Female Art Week Berlin at the Quantum Gallery.

The exhibition was made possible through the support of Clearstone Recruiting, who provided the venue for artistic use. The temporary nature of the space created an especially intense experience for both the audience and the participating artists.

Events such as City Lights illustrate how contemporary art can gain visibility beyond institutional frameworks and generate new forms of engagement between art and the public.

The organizational implementation of the exhibition was realized in collaboration with Panzo Entertainment.

Exhibition Independence

EXHIBITION INDEPENDENCE – COLOGNE 2022

The exhibition “Independence” was created during Art Cologne 2022 as a temporary pop-up gallery in downtown Cologne. It featured current works and large-format canvases from several series. The aim was to move art outside of traditional gallery spaces into the urban environment and enable direct dialogue with the public.

The exhibition opened with a vernissage, which also served as the first presentation of the pop-up gallery’s new premises.

The temporary use of the shop premises proved to be a special form of presentation: the large shop window provided an open view into the exhibition space, which immediately appealed to passers-by and promoted interaction between art and urban space.

Opening reception: November 18, 2022, 6–10 p.m.
Closing reception: January 21, 2023, 6–9 p.m.

“If I had had time to express a wish for what my art could use right now, I would have said: More visibility in downtown Cologne!” (Susanne Herbold)

OPENING NIGHT NEW YORK

Exhibition opening | Agora Gallery

Opening of the exhibition “Interconnection & Intuition

On March 3, the opening of the international exhibition “Interconnection & Intuition” took place at Agora Gallery. The established gallery is located in the heart of Chelsea, the famous artists’ district of New York City and home to some of the world’s most prestigious galleries. I had the great pleasure of being represented there with 4 of my large scale works. It was my first international exhibition and the feedback on my work was extremely positive! Not only did I make new contacts with art enthusiasts, collectors and other galleries that evening, but I also had wonderful encounters with my fellow international artists.

New York – I look forward to our to see you again!

Artist´s Profile Susanne Herbold

Personal note:

This exhibition took place not only after the serious accident of my husband Marcel Wüst – but also exactly in the week, in which the situation between Russia and the “rest of the world” has intensified to the maximum. The war is here now and it certainly makes each of us speechless and powerless. I experience a situation between “fading out” and “hoping”, “wanting to be informed”, but also “questioning facts”. A great emptiness and a lack of understanding often remains. In the context of this exhibition, I have tried to push the current political situation a little to the side and to focus as best as possible on this event.

You certainly don’t feel any different in your everyday business life. Life goes on in the meantime. Let’s hold on to the fact that the situation will be defused as soon as possible and we can turn back to what should have the highest priority: To bring our earth (and ourselves!) back into the right balance.
